Winky - little miracle!

This dog is truly a hero!!!
Apparenty Winky has suffered not one, but two seperate traumas. He has apparently been paralyzed from the waist down for some time and has grown accustomed to scooting around using his front legs. (The shard of good news out of this is that he is not feeling any pain from his most recent injuries....) The paralyasis is permanant, but it doesn't stop this little trooper from following his foster mom around everywhere, and making friends with her 3-legged Waggytail Rescue, Buddy.

His foster mom says: "He has an amazing spirit- he wants to follow you all over and be next to you all the time. Loves to give kisses. No aggression at all-super loving. Loves his grub!!!"

His coat is still yellow underneath from urine stains, but he is sooo much happier after a few baths!

We are so lucky to have this little guy with us. He was literally saved off the euthanization list with a no more than an hour before he would have had his spirited little life ended forever. Thank you all who helped this guy! (- Holly)

Winky - Little Survivor!

Little Winky was brought into Animal Care and Control. He had a fever was covered with mice droppings (yes, mice droppings) and mice bites, and there were urine scalds on his hind legs...he had obviously been kept in conditions where he was able to move or defend himself. Winky's hind legs are bruised, and possibly broken...has bruised testes. He is unable to use his hind legs - he may also have a broken spine from either a new or old injury.

Despite all of this, Winky displayed a sweet, gentle nature, and quietly sought affection from humans. Winky was scheduled to be euthanized on the morning of 7/28/09 but this sweet dog did not deserve to die alone in the shelter. He needed a chance. Waggytail Rescue pulled him off the euthanization list in the nick of time, and brought him to a foster home. He was sooooo happy! He ate a big meal, and settled down to chew a flossie. Fortunately, he does not seem to be any pain...unfortunately he appears to be paralyzed in his hind quarters.

Waggytail will be taking Winky to the vet to see how he can best be helped. We are so glad we saved him - he is such a special dog! Winky is about 8 lbs and estimated to be about 10 years old.
